Email me if you have questions.
A growing love for roses tossed me onto a path of learning and discovery that happily has no end. The diversity of this remarkable flower– the people who love her– the gardens that grow her– inspire me to blog my heart out.
99% of the photos on this blog were shot by me. And most of the subjects come from my house and garden, which is on a sunny corner in Lafayette, California. My Artist Husband, daughter Anna and I share the space with more than 300 roses and a luxury of plant companions.
ROSE PLACE GARDEN DESIGN
My garden design business is the natural outcome of a life devoted to roses. I love sharing the bounty of years of experimentation in seeking harmony with gorgeous plants, in an inviting garden. Click here for more pictures of my garden and info about my business.
SPEAKING
I'm not shy and love to talk about roses. I also give rose arranging seminars. Email me or give me a call- 925-323-7708.
ROSE SOURCES
Many of my blog posts feature rare roses not readily available-- I'm hoping you will fall in love and want the rose for yourself. My dream is that nursery people and vendors will take notice of our desires and make these special roses more commercially available.
Many of the roses I feature are available by mail order. For you convenince I've put together a rose sources list, available with a click, on the sidebar. The compilation is recent- if you know of a good rose source that I haven't mentioned, please send me an email about it.
ROSE GROWING TIPS
When I give rose talks, the first question is always, "What do you feed your roses?" I answer this and other burning questions with a click on the skinny, colorful buttons on the sidebar. The Pegging button is the most popular. Who wouldn't want to increase their rose blooms tenfold?
ROSE ARRANGING IDEAS
The blog has endless possibilities for easy and fun play with rose arranging. When I feature a rose, you'll almost always see it in a vase as well as in the garden. The arranging tips apply to all flowers.
ETSY SHOP
My rose alphabet, shown at the very top of the page, is available at Etsy, an online venue for thousands of talented craftspersons. My book, R is for Rose, was modeled around this original rose alphabet, that I photographed. Each letter is also a monogram for the rose it represents.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Roses have been my photography muse from the beginning, and I'm always in search of a new way to present my favorite flower. In the process, I often find its fun to do posts about how I come upon the photo magic.
MY FIRST WEBSITE
Rosesfromatoz.com was created to promote my second book, R is for Rose. It is also an archive for articles I've written, which includes a two-year stint as a rose columnist at the Contra Costa Times. I no longer post on the old site, but there's still lots of info crammed in those pages.

THREADS AND ROSES
The joy of blogging sometimes inspires me to write about buttons, patchwork, embroidery. Since these subjects stray from the garden, I worked up another blog called Threads and Roses.
